The role

The Indirect Tax Manager is central to Legora’s expansion, translating intricate, cross-border tax issues into clear, actionable compliance strategies across global jurisdictions. By collaborating with finance and accounting teams, you will be instrumental in scaling our international tax operations and ensuring seamless global compliance.

In practice, this means you will

  • Oversee and ensure the integrity of VAT/GST compliance processes across multiple EU and non-EU jurisdictions, partnering with internal and external stakeholders

  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and high-quality, defensible VAT records

  • Serve as a primary advisor on VAT consequences for international growth, market entries, new product launches, and corporate reorganizations. Take the lead in evaluating VAT considerations for digital services, intercompany dealings, and intricate transaction flows.

  • Drive the evolution of our finance systems by proactively integrating advancements in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

  • Manage relationships with external advisors and internal stakeholders.

  • Work across Finance, Legal, Product, and Commercial departments to integrate VAT considerations into standard operational workflows.

  • Provide active support for tax reporting functions and help bolster the organization's tax control framework.

Requirements

What You Bring

This is a role for someone who enjoys operating in motion. You are comfortable in complexity, curious by nature, and motivated by ownership rather than narrow scope. You don’t just want to run indirect tax — you want to help build how it works.

We’re looking for someone who brings

  • 5+ years of progressive professional experience in VAT or indirect tax

  • Experience from a technology and/or scale-up start-up environment

  • Experience in a multinational environment, either in-house or at a leading accounting firm

  • Strong expertise in EU VAT principles; including cross-border supplies and complex transaction flows; exposure to non-EU VAT regimes is an advantage.

  • Good working knowledge of Swedish VAT is required.

  • Proven experience with VAT compliance, reconciliations, and audit support.

  • General good knowledge of accounting

  • Strong understanding of group structures and cross-border business models.

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex VAT-related projects in a multi-jurisdictional environment.

  • Experience with modern indirect tax engines
