The Tech Visa, in English
With an EU passport, you need no work permit. From outside the EU, the Tech Visa, open since 2019, brings highly qualified workers to companies certified by IAPMEI: it needs a contract of at least 12 months paying at least 2.5 times the IAS, Portugal's social support index, a bachelor's degree or a shorter higher qualification with five years of specialised experience, and a working knowledge of Portuguese, English, French or Spanish.
The EU Blue Card is the other route, for a contract of at least six months paying 1.5 times the national average gross salary, or 1.2 times for shortage occupations.
